The trajectory of privacy regulations “is even a bigger story than the nuts and bolts of the legal compliance," Finch says.

In a video interview at Information Security Media Group’s recent Fraud and Breach Summit in Seattle, Finch discusses:

  • The changes companies need to make to comply with CCPA;
  • How IoT devices are collecting more data than businesses realize and what that means for security;
  • Why other states are developing privacy regulations.

Finch is senior counsel at the Future of Privacy Forum. She leads the organization’s Smart Cities Working Group. Her work has been published in the Cambridge Handbook of Consumer Privacy, the Fordham Urban Law Journal, and the Santa Clara Law Review. Before joining the forum, Finch was an inaugural Westin Fellow at the International Association of Privacy Professionals, where she produced research on privacy topics and edited the FTC Privacy Casebook.
